MARTINA’S STORY

“I left Italy and in Malta I transformed a passion into a job”: Martina’s story.

Martina Medail, 40 years old, born and raised in Milan, left Italy in 2020, shortly before the pandemic broke out.

After resigning from a permanent job that didn’t make her feel fully fulfilled, she lived in Singapore for over a year.

After this period, she returned to Italy but immediately left for Malta, where she has now lived for two years.

Here she decided to dedicate herself completely to her accessories brand, an activity that she previously only dealt with in the time that her previous job left her.

“I felt inspired in this place, it makes me work with a more positive attitude” says Martina.

I arrived in Malta when I was very disoriented, it’s a rather particular place.

But this country welcomed me very warmly, I never felt like a foreigner.

Also because there are so many expats here, there is a lot of people coming and going.

I didn’t feel like a fish out of water, as I have elsewhere.

The thing that struck me, when I arrived at the beginning, was precisely the cultural mix there, something I have never seen elsewhere.

If you leave your house, you actually find yourself talking to people from all over the world.

And then it is a truly special place, where there is a lot of history: Valletta is an open-air museum, the Medina is also really beautiful. It’s not really your typical island.

I like people who are very welcoming.

One of the first things that struck me is the kindness: when you ask for directions, for example, the people who stop really waste their time helping you, they are really genuine. Martina’s story.
